Hello World!

Well, hello there!

I’m Laura and this is my new blog. I have been blogging on and off for the past 3 and a bit years. It all started when I graduated from university and was very worried when I realised I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. Can anyone relate?!

My previous blog mainly consisted of me moaning about having to be a grown-up and working out how to live in the real world. It has brought me great joy.

But the real world is slowly starting to make a bit more sense. The whole reason I started that blog seemed to be less and less of an issue in my life. I found myself posting less and less frequently, so I thought a change in direction might be in order.

While I was thinking about what I could actually blog about, I thought about why I started that blog in the first place.

A big reason I found post-university life difficult is that I just love learning about things. I studied Physics with Astronomy because I thought it was cool and interesting. By the end of the 4 years, I was pretty sure that I did not want to be a scientist, but I was not done with learning new and weird and wonderful things. While I was very happy that I did not have to sit any exams or turn up for 9am labs or bang my head against a computer to make my graphs work, I missed sitting in lecture theatres and taking notes on things that I only half understood.

So I thought I could combine the two: Blogging, learning lots of things.

I imagine I will blog mainly about science because I feel slightly more confident that I am not spouting absolute rubbish when I write about that. I am sure other subjects will sneak in too though. I am also a bit of a book nerd, so I’ll definitely find an excuse for the odd book review as well.

I hope you enjoy, let’s see how this goes.
